Introducing Ballina's first Eukankanto competition.

While this event is a traditional Finnish Wife Carrying contest, we have some modified rules.

Rule 1.
Each competitor in the race must carrying a partner - see the attached link for typical techniques https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e3sUwpQNZxc&t=2s

Rule 2.
The team mate being carried must be an adult human (so no wife necessary). The team mate being carried must weigh a minimum of 50kg. Team mates under 50kg must wear a ruck sack with sufficient weights in it to reach the 50kg minimum.

Rule 3
The runner to carry their team-mate through a special obstacle course on the 400m Belleek track in the fastest time. It will be similar to this https://eukonkanto.fi/en/competition-track-and-rules/ but alas, we do not have a water pit this year.
Instead, the winner will have to carry their teammate through a gauntlet of kids with water guns.

Rule 4. 
The winner will be declared Ballina's Wife carrying Champion 2026 and will win a 50kg of lager curtesy of Moy Beverages.

Don't take it too seriously.
