After several years without local representation in the Community Games, both Ballina and The Quay are preparing for an exciting comeback. Now, in 2026, a new combined *Ballina–The Quay* area is being formed with the goal of giving children aged 6–16 the chance to take part in one of Ireland’s most inclusive and development-focused youth competitions.
Community Games Ballina & the Quay is a non-profit, volunteer-led organisation established to promote participation in sport, culture, and community activities among children and young people in the Ballina area.
The Organisation subscribes to the ethos of Community Games Ireland, including:
• Inclusiveness and fair play
• Respect, integrity, and community spirit
• A child-centred approach
• Promoting healthy participation and personal development
Objectives
1. To organise and support Community Games events within Ballina.
2. To provide safe, inclusive opportunities for children to participate in sports, arts, and community activities.
3. To encourage teamwork, confidence, and social development.
4. To ensure all activities meet child safeguarding and welfare standards.
5. To maintain strong cooperation with County and National Community Games structures.
Membership
1. Membership is open to volunteers, supporters, and parents/guardians who subscribe to the Organisation’s ethos.
2. Children resident in the Ballina and the Quay areaa, meeting Community Games eligibility rules, may participate in activities.
3. Volunteers must comply with Garda vetting and safeguarding requirements.
